AOMB's High Tech Campus Workshop
‘Patent Basics and Patent literature search'
On Wednesday 9 May at the High Tech Campus patent attorneys of the intellectual property law firm Algemeen Octrooi- en Merkenbureau organised for the third consecutive time a workshop for HTC-based companies and existing business relations of the firm.
The workshop was held in one of the meeting rooms at the Strip. For an audience of approx. 20 subscribers (mostly R&D personnel from a variety of companies) the workshop was given by patent attorneys Mr. Niestadt (working at the firm's main office in ‘De Kennispoort' in Eindhoven), Mr. Van der Krans and Mr. Valkonet with the support of Mrs. Faber (all from the HTC-suboffice). The first part of the workshop dealt with the basic principles of patent law (criteria, proceedings, etc.).
After the lunch an introduction was given concerning the use of specific patent databases for the search for relevant prior art. Apart from the use of specific search operators for setting up a patent search also actual example searches were performed in the patent literature databases of the European and U.S. Patent Office using computers connected to the internet via the HTC-computer network.
The attendants marked this third workshop as very useful and supportive for their own work as technology developers.
